Luxury SoCal Estate Listed for $65M Is Headed for Auction With No Reserve

Hold your horses! One of Southern California’s most luxurious estates is headed for the auction block with no reserve price, but that doesn’t mean a bidder will walk away with the place for pocket change.

This high-end spread near Montecito, CA, currently sits on the market for $65 million. An auction set to take place next month will determine the home’s true value—the no-reserve auction means that the home will sell, regardless of price.

Theoretically, the auction could bring out bargain hunters interested in scoring a grand mansion for pennies on the dollar.

But the auction process won’t exactly be a free-for-all: There is a significant barrier to entry. Potential owners will need to pony up $100,000 just for the privilege of bidding.

So what makes this estate so extraordinary?

For starters, it has its own world-renowned polo grounds. An owner can simply sit on the terrace and watch the

Sotheby’s is requiring minimum bids of at least $90 million for “Grande femme I,” but the final sale price will remain a secret.

Until October 27, auction house Sotheby’s will be accepting confidential offers for “Grande femme I,” a 9-foot-tall bronze of a spindly woman. And with a starting price of $90 million, the so-called “sealed-bid” sale could fetch one of the largest sums ever paid for a sculpture.

The Swiss artist cast the bronze artwork in 1960, six years before his death. It was part of a larger series of sculptures meant to form a major public installation in New York City, though the outdoor display was never realized. “Grande femme I” embodies Giacometti’s late-career style,

Four unidentified bidders will compete in a controversial auction of state land near some of the hottest real estate in the country.

Restrictions for prospective bidders on the 2,783-acre parcel in the far southeast Valley were so severe that some homebuilders, developers  and lawmakers accused state officials of tailoring the auction to benefit a single developer.

But the Arizona State Land Department confirmed Tuesday four bidders submitted packages. These now will be reviewed to ensure they meet the qualifications and then used to set the opening price at a live auction of the land on Nov. 4.

State officials said they would not identify the bidders.

The submissions don’t ease concerns about

Ex-Advanta CEO offers Philly-area estate for auction

Arbor Hill, the sweeping Fort Washington estate owned by the former chief executive of the now-bankrupt Advanta banking company, was put up for private auction Tuesday after an eight-year attempt to sell the property.

Unlike 2012, when Arbor Hill’s owner, Dennis Alter, posted the almost 70-acre property for sale for $30 million, on Tuesday he auctioned a fraction of his home — 50 acres — for $12 million. It had been on the market for more than two and a half years.

The estate is listed on Concierge Auctions, a high-end real estate bidding platform that has counted Cher and Michael Jordan as its clients, and also been accused of using fake bidders to drive up prices. Concierge has denied the accusations.

“We’ve tried to sell the entire estate, but that’s not what we’re selling today at auction,” said Janet Rubino, the Long & Foster real estate agent

LONDON (Reuters) – Film fans will have the chance to get their hands on the thigh-high patent leather boots worn by Julia Roberts in “Pretty Woman” or Tom Cruise’s “Top Gun” bomber jacket when nearly 1,000 items of movie memorabilia go on sale in an auction in December.

The artefacts in the annual Prop Store Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction have been hunted down by Prop Store boss Stephen Lane through his network of filmmakers, cast and crew members, production companies and collectors.

“I started Prop Store out of my passion for collecting and so it’s all about the hunt,” Lane told Reuters in his company’s warehouses in Rickmansworth, near London.

“A lot of these artefacts are just thrown away at the end of production or certainly used to be. They were just

How to shop the Waldorf Astoria’s online auction

Kaminski Auctions in Beverly, Mass., is handling the colossal sale, which features 15,000 lots, including some with multiple items. The furnishings filled nearly every public and private space in the hotel: the celebrity suites, guest rooms, lobby, bars, restaurants and fitness center. The live bidding runs through Oct. 24; the first day alone will put nearly 700 objects on the auction block. (All proceeds will go to St. Bartholomew’s Conservancy.)

“It is overwhelming,” said Stuart Whitehurst, an independent appraiser and antiques consultant who appears on PBS’s “Antiques Roadshow.” “This sale is a marathon, not a sprint.”

The Waldorf Astoria, which has lived at its current address since 1931, plans to reopen in 2022 with a more modern look for its 375 condominium residences and 375 hotel rooms. To make way for the new, it’s getting rid of the old, with a few priceless exceptions, such as John F. Kennedy’s rocking

$3.25M a record sale for Honus Wagner baseball card. N.J. auction house brokered ‘Holy Grail’ sale.

In terms of collectables, the T206 Honus Wagner is the Holy Grail of trading cards, after fewer than 200 were produced more than a century ago, and only a fraction of that number remain.

The rarity and mystique that gives surviving Wagner cards their value stems from the demand Wagner made that his card’s production be halted because he didn’t like that it was included in packs of cigarettes sold to kids, or so the story goes.

On Wednesday, a New Jersey auction house specializing in sports and music memorabilia announced a new record for the highest price ever paid for a T206 Wagner — $3.25 million — in a sale the company had brokered between a buyer and a seller from the Midwest.

“It’s the most spent for a Honus Wagner card,” Dylan Kosinski, president of the Franklin Lakes-based auction house, Gotta Have Rock and Roll, told NJ Advance

A state land auction near some of the hottest residential real estate in the country will open in the far southeast Valley this month with a low appraisal price and few bidders.

That is no accident.

The starting price on the 2,783 acres up for bid in a vast tract known as the Superstition Vistas is so low some developers are calling it a steal. But most will never get a chance to bid on it.

Restrictions imposed by the Arizona State Land Department ensure only a handful of developers nationwide are able to qualify and compete.

Among them is Brookfield Residential Properties Inc., a publicly traded behemoth worth about $4.5 billion. Brookfield for

Dispersing inheritance property can be a advanced and sophisticated process. I nonetheless believed Ajay in the UK and his most popular individuals in Buffalo – the real estate agent and the property management individuals. “There’s unquestionably now a startling variance in the delivery of property administration providers in New Zealand,” she stated.
