EVANSVILLE, Ind. — A contractor working for the city’s Evansville Land Bank Corp. will not be charged after shooting a man Thursday while inspecting a house on Fares Avenue.
Evansville Police Department spokesman Sgt. Nick Winsett said detectives determined the contractor was acting in self defense when he fired his handgun, which he had a permit to carry.
“He was clearly justified. There was no other recourse. He was being attacked,” Winsett said.
He said police conferred with the Vanderburgh County Prosecutor’s Office in the decision.
