Delray Beach, FL <(December 27, 2009)> Michael Posner, Founder
and Director of The Delray Beach Film Festival announced Michael
Knowles as the winner of the 2010 Script-to-Reel Script Contest.
His short script entitled, Let Yourself Be Heard, about feeling free
to be yourself in an intimate relationship, was selected by a
4-panel judge out of a total of 43 entries.
About the Filmmaker:
Michael Knowles is an award-winning filmmaker who wears many hats --
acting, writing, directing, editing, producing, as well as
cinematography. His feature films, Room 314, One Night, Nikki: A
Girl with Rett Syndrome and his short films, Nick and Stacey, Acting
101, The Lesson, Argo and The System, have played in over 60
domestic and international film festivals, winning many awards along
the way.
Knowles and his first feature, Room 314, received critical acclaim
from The New York Times and Variety during its theatrical run at The
Pioneer Theater. Room 314 was released on home video by Vanguard
Cinema in August 2008.
Knowles’ second feature film, One Night, based on his original
screenplay, starred Melissa Leo, Bill Sage, Michael Muhney, Robert
Clohessy, Paola Mendoza, Aaron Staton, Billy Lush, Christian
Campbell, Holly Fain, Merissa Morin, Frankie Shaw, Bill Dawes, Kevin
Cahoon, Maria Zyrianova and Donnamarie Recco.
Knowles received two Best Director awards for this film. One Night
will be available on VOD in over 10 million homes on January 1st,
2010. One Night will also be released on DVD by Vanguard Cinema in
the spring of 2010.
Knowles is set to direct his third feature film, East Fifth Bliss,
in New York City in April 2010. Michael adapted the novel, East
Fifth Bliss with the novelist, Douglas Light. East Fifth Bliss has
an all-star cast: Michael C. Hall, Lucy Liu, George Segal, Bobby
Cannavale, Michael Rappaport, Brie Larson and Sarah Shahi.

As an actor Knowles has appeared on the award winning HBO series Sex
And The City as Marathon Man and on an award-winning episode of Law
& Order: SVU as Artie Felton.
Point & Shoot, which premiered at the 2004 Tribeca Film Festival,
screened at the 2004 Hamptons International Film Festival, and won
the Audience Award at the 2004 Cinema Paradise Film Festival.
Walking On The Sky, best Dramatic Feature at the 2005 New York
International Film & Video Festival (LA edition).
The Babysitters, starring Cynthia Nixon and John Leguizamo, which
premiered at the 2007 Toronto Film Festival.
Other credits include: Guiding Light, As the World Turns and All My
Children.
