5 Ideas For Apartment Decorating Your Bank Account Will Appreciate

Just because you rent an apartment or home instead of owning it doesn’t mean you can’t make it your space. Apartment decorating inside and out is a great way to enhance the living area for your neighbors to appreciate as well. There are lots of inexpensive decorations for apartments that won’t drain your bank account empty. When choosing decor for your apartment, remember to think of things that are not permanent. There aren’t any design choices worth risking your security deposit over.

1. Hang up artwork. Art doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. When looking for great art, look for prints instead of paintings at your local craft fair or even online. Get creative and pull pretty pictures out of magazines if you want. Put the prints in inexpensive frames and hang on the wall. Make the art really pop by mixing and matching frame styles and sizes. Play around with the grouping of the frames before you hang. If you are not allowed to put nails in the wall, invest in removable adhesives to hang the art.

2. Bring in textiles. A little fabric can go a long way. One way to improve how your kitchen looks is by hanging some tea towels on your cabinet door handles. The towels serve as decoration and give you something to dry your dishes and hands with. Hang fabric curtains in the windows to decorate the apartment and give you some privacy. A tablecloth or a set of placemats adds color and visual interest to a dining table without breaking the bank. To add visual appeal to the kitchen and the bathroom as well, mixing and matching textiles adds a personal flair to your apartment.

3. Hang a mirror. Mirrors make fantastic decorations for apartments. Not only do they add decoration to your space but they also let you check your appearance and they also make a small space look larger. Choose a single large mirror to hang in your living area or group several smaller mirrors together. Mixing small mirrors in with your artwork adds interest and space to your room. Get a deal on a mirror by looking in thrift stores or flea markets.

4. Light some candles. Candles, whether they are tea lights, tapers, or pillars, are an easy way to add an elegant touch to your apartment. Set the candles on your eating table or arrange them in a group on a coffee table. If you want to decorate with scent, too, look for scented candles.

5. Use floor pillows. Floor cushions are a practical way to add a decorative touch to your apartment. They’re handy to have if you like to entertain but don’t have a lot of room for furniture and need the extra seating. Choose floor cushions in a pattern that matches your furniture. When not in use, they can sit in the corner and serve a decorative purpose.

The areas directly connected to the exterior of your apartment, such as the balcony or patio, are extensions of your living space. Do some container gardening which will not only enhance the space, it will enhance your cooking as well! Place a statue, hang a wind chime or sun reflectors or create a small landscaped area with potted trees, flowers and some decorative timber or landscape blocks. With great apartment decorating ideas like these, don’t be surprised if your neighbors come over and ask you for advice on how to decorate their apartments.
