A three-year research study will examine how the moods and behaviors of residents change with the therapy and if they rely less on psychotropic drugs. The facilities will use assessments, questionnaires and personal observations for the research.

The program is made possible by Tennessee Tech University Whitson-Hester School of Nursing, which will be partnering with ArtTherapy4Life for instruction, a Tennessee-based nonprofit that was founded this year. The art therapy grant is the first of its kind in the state.

Genesee County nets $600K from sale of its last piece of Lake Huron property

GENESEE COUNTY, MI — The county has agreed to sell it’s last remaining parcel of property near Lake Huron, netting $600,000 from the land that remained after construction of a Lake Huron intake for the Karegnondi Water Authority pipeline.

The county Board of Commissioners agreed Wednesday, Oct. 28, to sell approximately 195 acres west of M-25 in southern Sanilac County in the deal. The offer is $25,000 less than the property had been listed for.

Other pieces of the land had been sold previously, bringing back a total of more than $1.5 million of the $2.7 million the county paid for the 240 acres at a public auction nearly 20 years ago.

“The whole process has gone a lot better and smoother than what I was anticipating,” said board Chairman Martin Cousineau, D-Thetford Twp. ” We were able to get more than we were asking for one of the lots

Former Friendly’s in Forest Park sells for $600K; same investors buy 3 other closed Friendly’s

SPRINGFIELD — A Norwood real estate company purchased the closed Friendly’s property near Forest Park at the end of September for $600,000 and the boarded-up restaurant is now advertised for lease.

The sale is detailed in papers filed Sept. 30 at the Hampden County Registry of Deeds and appears to be a part of a portfolio of old Friendly’s locations sold by the chain’s corporate parent. The location is at 65 Sumner Ave.

The Friendly’s – a 4,700-square-foot space – closed in 2018 as part of Friendly’s continued downsizing. It was built in 1979.

The new owner is Charles River Realty Group, according to records.
