Philadelphia is poised to enact a new tax on residential construction and to make major changes to the city’s controversial property tax abatement program under a tentative deal struck by City Council President Darrell L. Clarke and Mayor Jim Kenney’s administration.

Biotech company lease allows big East Bay expansion

EMERYVILLE — A biotech company that produces drugs to combat cancer has struck a leasing deal to expand its operations in the East Bay, according to a regulatory filing.

Agenus has signed a lease to occupy a building in Emeryville that the life sciences firm will use for multiple operations, the company reported in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The office building that Agenus has rented is on Christie Avenue between 64th Street and 65th Street in a campus known as Bay Center Offices.

“Agenus will lease a building containing approximately 83,600 square feet in Emeryville for its commercial antibody manufacturing requirements and additionally, laboratory and office space,” the company stated in the SEC documents that were filed on Nov. 25.

The building that Agenus leased is part of the three-building Bay Center Offices campus that is owned by Iowa-based Principal Real Estate Investors and Oakland-based Harvest

ZURICH (Reuters) – A Credit Suisse Group global property fund will wind down against the backdrop of low trading volume and a discount of more than 20% to underlying assets due to market corrections triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Swiss bank said.

“The fund management company has decided to liquidate the Credit Suisse Real Estate Fund Global, partly because of the trading discount that has arisen on the stock market,” it said.

The properties held by the real estate fund are to be transferred to the Credit Suisse Real Estate Fund International in the first half of 2021, and the liquidation proceeds will be paid out to the investors, according to the bank.

Retired Big Bend National Park biologist Raymond Skiles spent a lot of time hiking the desert and mountains in the 1,252-square-mile park during his tenure. One of his favorite routes followed a ridge near the Rio Grande, where ocotillo dot the rocky limestone and the high ground offers views of the river and Sierra del Carmen mountains. IKEA investment arm in talks to buy city-centre retail property in big European cities

STOCKHOLM (Reuters) – IKEA’s Ingka Investments is in talks to buy commercial property in prime locations in several big European cities after it finalised its first-ever such acquisition last month, its managing director said.

The investment arm of Ingka Group, which owns most IKEA stores, is pushing into the real estate market as part of IKEA’s shift towards big city-centres from out-of-town. So far, such locations are leased.

Scouting for city-centre retail property more or less ready to house IKEA stores across Europe’s main cities, Ingka Investments’ first deal was in Paris’ Rue de Rivoli.

“We have ongoing discussions in big European cities,” Ingka Investments Managing Director Krister Mattsson said in an interview. “It takes time to buy properties, but there is a lot in the pipeline,” he told Reuters.

Inkga Investments is pushing ahead with the new strategy despite the wider retail market uncertainty caused by the pandemic.

Allstate Corp. hired solely banks owned by minorities, women or veterans for its bond sale, in the biggest corporate deal yet managed only by diverse firms.

The insurer enlisted Loop Capital Markets, Academy Securities, Samuel A. Ramirez & Co., Siebert Williams Shank & Co., AmeriVet Securities, Cabrera Capital Markets, C.L. King & Associates, Penserra Securities and R. Seelaus & Co. to underwrite its debt offering, according to a filing. Allstate also said it’s committing to doubling trading volume with diverse firms next year for its $92 billion investment portfolio, according to a statement Thursday.

October brought very good news for anyone looking to sell their single-family home, and very bad news for anyone thinking about buying one.

Single-family median prices increased by 10.4 percent to $360,000 in the Bradenton area and 20.2 percent to $345,000 in Sarasota, according to the Realtor Association of Sarasota and Manatee.

The median price, the exact midpoint between the most expensive home and the least expensive home sold, has been on a steady upward trajectory with the falling inventory of homes and the rush of new buyers moving into the area.

Single-family homes are going under contract in fewer days than the previous year, resulting in a fast-paced seller’s market, according to data compiled by Florida Realtors and provided by the Realtor Association of Sarasota and Manatee.
