A roofing contractor doing repair work from Hurricane Sally unintentionally ignited a fire on the 14th floor of a Navarre Beach condominium complex Thursday evening, fire officials said.

The fire, according to Navarre Beach Fire Rescue Chief Danny Fureigh, was called in around 4 p.m. Thursday. Crews from Navarre Beach, Midway Fire District and Holley-Navarre Fire District responded to the two-alarm fire and climbed 14 sets of stairs to get to the blaze, which had ignited on the roof.

The initial investigation indicates the fire was an accident caused by a roofing contractor, Fureigh said.
