Mt. Juliet planning commissioners voted down a plan to build 276 single-family homes in Wilson County near the Davidson County line.

Canebrake Subdivision is the name for the proposed development on just over 100 acres in West Wilson County near Devonshire and Georgetown drives.

Century Communities submitted the plan that isn’t in Mt. Juliet’s city limits, but is in the city’s growth boundary. The Canebrake plan is subject to review and approval by Mt. Juliet’s planning commission and falls under the city’s subdivision regulations.

The developer did not seek annexation into Mt. Juliet as Century Communities planned to access the Metro Davidson County sewer service.

Mt. Juliet’s right to provide sewer service for the project coupled with legal questions about Metro handling sewer in Wilson County were raised.
