EVANSVILLE, Ind. — An Evansville city landbank contractor told police he shot a man who was attacking him Thursday afternoon, Evansville Police spokesman Sgt. Nick Winsett said.
The contractor is a retired city employee who is working as an independent contractor for the landbank, a city official said.
Winsett said the contractor was in the 1700 block of South Fares Avenue when he claims he was attacked by another man. That employee pulled out a pistol and shot the other man.
Winsett said he is not yet able to say it is self-defense, as the incident is still under investigation. The second man was shot in the eye with a 9 mm pistol, Winsett said, but was conscious and able to talk to police. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
