Canada’s Condo Markets Face Perfect Storm As Rental Rates Tank, Costs Jump

Newly-built condo buildings in Montreal’s Griffintown neighbourhood. Canada’s condo owners could be in for rough times as the market paces a perfect storm of problems.

Add yet another to the many imbalances in Canada’s pandemic economy: Renters are catching big breaks as rental rates drop, while condo owners ― particularly investors ― are looking at potentially rough times ahead.

In fact, for condo owners, just about everything that could go wrong ― from bad construction and rising insurance costs, to rental rates that can’t cover mortgage payments ― is going wrong.

Rents are falling in most Canadian major cities, pulling down the average asking rent by 8.1 per cent from a year ago, according to the latest data from Rentals.ca. Much of the decline came in the spring and summer, with the average price more or less stable in the past few months.

The transmission sits in the front of the tank, so a propshaft from the rear-mounted engine runs through the center fighting compartment in an enclosed housing. The upper cast hull of the tank is welded to the armor-plated lower hull of the tank, and a cast turret sits on top. 

According to Bring a Trailer, these tanks were manned by a five-man crew, with a driver at the front left next to the machine gunner, and three men in the turret. A dual-position seat allows you to drive the tank with the hatch open or closed. Its controls have a foot throttle, foot clutch and dual differential-brake steering levers. 

The 75-mm main gun has been demilitarized, but the tank still has some firepower. There’s a propane-fired .50-caliber replica machine gun on the turret. A dummy .30-caliber machine gun also sits on the forward hull.

2 die, 4 unwell after cleaning septic tank at Delhi factory; owner, contractor held

Delhi [India] October 19 (ANI): Two persons died after cleaning a septic tank at a factory in Delhi’s Azad Pur area on Sunday, the police said.

Factory owner Rajender Soni (63) and contractor Pramod Dangi (35), both from Delhi, have been arrested, the police added.

Six of seven labourers, cleaning the septic tank of the factory, Delhi Chain Company, fell sick and were shifted to BJRM Hospital on Sunday. On reaching the hospital, two persons, Idris (45) and Salim (45) — both residents of Khurja in Uttar Pradesh — were declared dead. One Islam (40) of Khurja is undergoing treatment in the hospital and is reportedly stable, while three others, Abdul Saddam (35) of Bulandshahr district in UP, Salim (35) of Khurja and Mansoor (38) of Khurja, were discharged after first aid.
