Classic Urban Homes pays tribute to architect Greico

The Dallas Builders Association’s Home of the Week will be built by Classic Urban Homes at 4129 Valley Ridge Road in Dallas. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2021.

This 3,135-square-foot home is a tribute to Thomas J. “Tom” Greico, a designer/builder who passed away on Jan 12, 2019.

One of Dallas’ leading architects and builders, Greico helped pioneer customized modern homebuilding in North Texas. This design was to be his personal home.

The residence will offer five bedrooms, four bathrooms and an open-plan family room, dining room and kitchen for entertaining. Features include a minimalist-style kitchen with a seated island, built-in bookshelves over a woodburning fireplace and wood panels throughout for warmth and continuity from room to room. LaCantina doors in the living room will create an indoor/outdoor interactive experience, said a company spokesperson.

This 1984 Toyota Hilux Xtra Cab has been modified to look like pre time-travel Marty’s dream truck (and post time-travel Marty’s actual truck) and is up for auction on everyone’s favourite late-night wish-list scroller, Bring a Trailer.

No, this one wasn’t delivered new and customised to Hill Valley’s own Statler Toyota dealership, but instead started life as a very modest cream coloured Hilux, sold originally in California in August 1984. In fact, the original advertisement for the car in the local paper is included in the sale.

The current owner has repainted the car black, added the requisite tubular front and rear bars, a rollbar with KC spot and driving lamps, and 15-inch wheels with 31-inch BF Goodrich off-road
