Gov. Ron DeSantis on Tuesday appointed two new members to Florida State University’s Board of Trustees and two to the Board of Governors that oversees the State University System.
At FSU, Peter Collins and Deborah Sargeant were appointed to the Board of Trustees. They will replace trustees Brent Sembler and William “Billy” Buzzett, whose terms expired in January.
The Board of Governors is getting Ken Jones of Tampa and Edward Haddock of Winter Park. All of the appointments are subject to approval by the Florida Senate.
Buzzett, an attorney and developer, served as secretary for the now-defunct Department of Community Affairs under Gov. Rick Scott, He was appointed chair of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee at FSU in October by trustees chair Ed Burr.
